In 1799 Fr. Peter McGuire, Administrator of Termonfeckin parish, commenced a register of marriages and deaths for the united parishes of Termonfeckin, Ballymakenny, Drumshallon, Mullary, Beaulieu and Monasterboice. The register contained details of marriages at the start of the book in conjunction with the details of deceased members of the parishes.

The united parishes were divided in July 1802 when Monasterboice was established as a separate parish. Ballymakenny retained its ecclesiastical link to Termonfeckin for several more years; hence the Monasterboice deaths in the register until 1802 and those from Ballymakenny continuing until 1807 as evidenced in the register.

Some points worth noting in the following list:

  1. Very few of the following parochial deaths from Termonfeckin are recorded in the graveyard. Many of these burials would have only been recorded with simple marker stones, if at all.
  2. Substantial mortality rates feature in some years - 1800, 1801, 1807 etc. Also the spring months of March and April regularly attain high death rates.
